Twitpic: Share photos on Twitter

Posted on September 19, 2010

Twitpic is a website that allows users to easily post pictures to the Twitter microblogging and social media service. Twitpic is often used by citizen journalists to upload and distribute pictures in near real-time as an event is taking place.
twitpic
Twitpic could be used independently of Twitter, in a way similar to Flickr. However, several characteristics make this site a companion for Twitter. Twitpic usernames and passwords are the same as the ones in Twitter. Comments to photographs are sent as a reply tweet. Twitpic URLs are already short, making it unnecessary to use URL shortening.

Anyone with a Twitter account can post pictures to the site. This has the disadvantage of anyone being able to post pornographic, obscene or objectionable material, although this is prohibited by the terms of use.

If you are wondering how the points are calculated for each News Link, which are also shown next to each link, here is the explaination.

Currently they gather the following data for each News Link: Tweets linking to the News Link, bit.ly clicks, clicks on facebook , shares on facebook, and comments on facebook . For each non-click activity(like a Tweet), it is 1 point. For each click activity(like a bit.ly click), it is .10 point.

Blast Follow:Search and Follow Everyone Using Trending Topic on Twitter

Posted on August 3, 2010

BlastFollow enables you to follow Twitter users who share your interests en masse. This is accomplished by searching for users who have tweeted with a particular hashtag recently. For example, if you are interested in American Idol, you may want to search for users whose tweets have included the hashtag "#americanidol".

To make this happen, you would go to the home page and enter "americanidol" in the hashtag box. DO NOT ENTER THE POUND SIGN! That is already assumed. Then, click the "Get Users!" button. This will retrieve the users who have tweeted "#americanidol" recently. The number of users found will be displayed. You can then enter your Twitter user name and password and click the "Blast!" button. You will start following all of those users.
BlastFollow
Remember, the hashtags are case-sensitive. So "#tcot" is not the same as "#TCOT". In this case, you might want to BlastFollow people associated with both hashtags.

Also, remember to check back frequently. Two days from now if you search for Twitter users who have tweeted with "#americanidol", you'll get a different list than if you do so today. You can start following those users as well.

By default, it is people you follow. The other options on the settings page are people following you, both following and followers, and people you follow that follow you back.

People are sorted by how much you mention their user name ( @ replies, retweets, etc ) in your Twitter feed. It starts in the first two columns on the left, from top to bottom, left, right, left, right. If you mention people the same amount (or not at all), the order of those people will be random.

You can remove or change your background image at any time by visiting the design tab of Twitter settings.
